Contours of Cape Town

This vast space and peace is what I aimed to capture through these intricate lines of ink as well as my heart: my unequivocal love for this city. It’s the perfect balance between excitement, adventure, art of a modern city and the beauty of pure, undiluted nature.

Embrace

This year has sparked such personal growth in not just my life, but in my work as well. Especially in the projects and collaborations that I accept and pour my heart into. Last year my illustrations revolved around taking a rape survivor and attempting to transform the way she viewed her body through photography and artworks. It was such an intimate process and it’s one of my biggest passions in life. To be able to use my art platform to initiate honest, raw conversations not just between women in general, but to those secret conversations taking place in our minds as well.

Berlin Exhibition

What an unbelievable privilege to travel all the way to Berlin to share my latest project through Urban Noun at Level EIGHT in the German burrow of Mitte. As a contemporary illustrator it is important for me to step away from commissioned originals every now and then in order to address tough issues we are experiencing in our country.

Michelle Hattingh

Michelle, this is for you. As women we have to work very hard to provide for ourselves, our families, to climb that corporate ladder or to run your own business. After all of that, we have to take care of our hormonal, confused and stressed bodies while pretending to have everything under control and acting like we know what we are doing.

Secular Journey

I am thrilled to reveal the first artwork for my latest collection on Women’s Day that will be exhibited in New York and Berlin. I have entitled it “the f word” for the fierce females that will form part of my project. My first muse, Michelle Hattingh, author of “I’m the girl who was raped” discusses her journey of healing after she was violently raped in South Africa. The journey of healing is secular. She has ups and downs and is constantly striving to improve her body image. My main goal was to show her how truly beautiful she is, in all of her imperfections.
